As a 4th Grade Teacher, you will develop lesson plans, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge aligned with their abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
  • Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
  • Present subject matter to students to maximize learning, using differentiated instruction and a variety of student learning modalities.
  • Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
  • Maximize the educational achievement of each student through frequent diagnostic assessments, progress reports, and tailored activities.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share insights for continual curriculum improvement.
  • Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Familiarize yourself with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of classroom activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support their growth.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
  • Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules of classroom/playground behavior.
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals, including planning individual and group learning activities.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Participate in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
  • Incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for instruction.
  • Strive to establish cooperative relations and communicate effectively with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Work Environment

  • Usual school working conditions, which may be noisy during high student traffic.

Physical Demands

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • No significant physical exertion required.
