About This Role

We're seeking dedicated educators who build strong relationships with children, encourage curiosity, and foster a joy-filled learning environment. 2nd Presbyterian Weekday School is hiring a co-teacher for our preschool for the 2026-2027 school year!

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement educational curriculum through weekly planning sessions, creating classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, in collaboration with your co-teacher or mentor teacher.
  • Lead by example, model, and coach teaching team success.
  • Design and lead individual and group activities to engage children, promoting social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain open communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent night events, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment, adhering to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
  • Accurately maintain records, forms, and files.
  • Pursue continuous quality improvement through personal professional development plans.

Requirements

  • Must clear a full background check and pass health screening.
  • Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, lift children when necessary, hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel or bend.
  • Specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Must have an understanding of child development.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in early childhood education.
  • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience preferred.

Position Details

  • The school year runs from August through May, following a traditional academic calendar.
  • This Co-Teacher position in our preschool classroom is Monday–Friday, approximately 30 hours per week, with hours from 8:45 AM – 3:10 PM.

  • Specialist Support: Classrooms are enriched by additional staff including a Music Teacher, Movement Teacher, Art Specialist, and Early Interventionist. A Speech-Language Pathologist is also available as needed.

  • Each classroom is provided with a petty cash fund, ensuring teachers are not expected to purchase classroom materials out-of-pocket.
  • Access to shared resources including a laminating machine, copier, and a dedicated classroom computer for planning, documentation, and communication.
  • Teachers are encouraged to utilize shared spaces such as the library, atrium, and other areas of campus for quiet breaks and lunch.
