Pay

Starting hourly rate: $18.00 USD per hour (effective 09/20/26 – 01/02/2027). Non‑exempt team members are eligible for a temporary additional $1 on top of an existing $1/hr shift differential for eligible overnight or early‑morning hours. Please talk to HR for details.

About the role

Working at Target means helping families discover the joy of everyday life. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team ensures product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor. As an Inbound Expert you will support guest‑first culture, inventory management, and process efficiency while gaining experience in retail business fundamentals, sales trends, and promotional signing.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly (within 10 ft: smile, eye contact; within 4 ft: initiate helpful interaction).
• Help guests find items, resolve issues, and end each transaction with a sincere thank‑you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy, inspiring experience.
• Execute detailed, accurate, and efficient sorting operations.
• Stock, organize, and store reserve product; straighten merchandise on the sales floor.
• Maintain product availability for General Merchandise categories.
• Operate powered equipment (if certified) while unloading freight or moving merchandise.
• Process defective merchandise and handle environmentally sensitive items in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; report and correct hazards.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up (OPU), and Drive‑Up while complying with adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Maintain focus and composure in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise safely, including lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 44 lb repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays, peak shopping times) and ability to work scheduled shifts with required meal and rest breaks.
• Capability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive‑Up, carry‑out areas).
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift.
