About the role

The position involves direct and supervisory inspection of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including electrical components, on various terrains. It also includes supervising and training QC inspectors, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to, and participating in investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Use appropriate tools to inspect PV systems in compliance with codes and standards.
  • Measure, cut, torque, and inspect structural framing and solar modules.
  • Test wiring, electrical fixtures, motors, and control systems.
  • Coordinate and train QC inspectors on proper installation practices.
  • Engage with clients and represent quality in meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Assist in completing quality checklists and corresponding photos.
  • Manage other crafts as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training to supervised personnel.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of journeyman and QC experience, with at least 1 year of QC experience.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor.
  • One or more relevant certifications (NCCER Concrete Finishing, Carpenter, Reinforcing Ironwork, Rigger, Scaffolding, Fundamentals of Crew Leadership, Project Supervision, Project Management).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to set high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Knowledge of Project Field Quality Control Plan, Quality Integrated Procedures, and Construction Inspection Test Plans.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have all necessary tools (see Craft QC Tool List).
  • Must have leadership abilities and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Must be able to work in cramped spaces and get into awkward positions.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to work around hazardous equipment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
