About the role

The ideal candidate will shadow one of our electricians and assist with various tasks, including reading blueprints, diagnosing electrical problems, repairing systems, and installing new electrical components. They will also assist with minor repairs and load, transport, and unload materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to assist in performing duties such as measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit; drilling holes for wiring; pulling wiring through openings; assisting in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Help install all other related items in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Engage with the work team to ensure zero injuries and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Report accidents and near misses to supervisor and participate in investigations.
  • Attend site-specific training and follow outlined procedures.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Listen to co-workers' suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities.

Requirements

  • 4001-6000 hours (2-3 years') experience working as an electrician.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • All necessary licenses for the jurisdiction in which the work is to be performed.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Qualifications

  • NCCER Construction Craft Laborer certification or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, conduit, systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Developing knowledge in installation or maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Understanding and following safety protocols.

Skills
