Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes Pre-Operational Checklist each day before operating lift. Reports all forklift damage or malfunction to supervisor.
- Operates forklift always at a reasonable and prudent speed, watching closely for pedestrians or other motorized vehicles.
- Operates forklift to load finished goods for transport to customers
- Inspects all trailers to meet SQF requirements before shipments are loaded.
- Hand stacks cases of finished goods on pallet.
- Operates forklift to deliver oldest code date finished goods to order picking area.
- Maintains and reports accurately data for all orders loaded during each shift.
- Delivers incoming merchandise received by the warehouse to proper department.
- Loading trucks is part of the learning process is to distribute the weight on outgoing shipments. All product for shipments, need to be thoroughly inspected as they are being loaded.
- Cleans floor of warehouse, trailers, loading docks, and exterior areas around warehouse. Keeps warehouse in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Follows safety rules and company policies.
- Performs duties as an order puller of finished goods for shipments to the customer.
- Operates forklift to unload various cargoes.
- Operates forklift to rotate stock and deliver oldest code date of finished goods to order picking area.
- Affords assistance in counting finished goods for inventory and reports count to person recording inventory counts.
- Stoops and bends in some job tasks.
- Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
- Receives written or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school plus additional training preferred.
- Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English needed for job tasks.
- Certified forklift operator.
Physical Demands
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
- The worker is required to have eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift.
Work Environment
- Works inside warehouse and outside warehouse facilities subject to significant seasonal temperature variations.
