About the Role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc…so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may be asked to assist them to their medical appointments, banking, assist them to become active members of their community, attend outings, administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and to follow medical guidelines that are in place.

Schedule & Pay

  • Schedule: Thurs-Sun 11p-9a Full-Time: 40 hours
  • Pay rate: $17.50 - 19.00 per hour – Paid training provided by Venture!
  • Sign On Bonus: $1000 for Full Time and $500 for Part Time employees

Responsibilities

  • Advocate and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing
  • Assist with medical appointments and banking
  • Support individuals to become active members of their community and attend outings
  • Administer medications
  • Follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals
  • Follow medical guidelines that are in place
  • Safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency
  • Maintain certifications and handle job related duties in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations/policies

Qualifications

  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
  • Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
  • Must be 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported (may include holidays, overnights, or double shifts)
