About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best.

The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and adhering to medical guidelines.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications while complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene).
• Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Ensure compliance with medical guidelines and Agency policies.
• Safely evacuate individuals in case of emergencies.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, Defensive Driving).

Requirements

• 21+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts.

Pay

$17.50–$19.00 per hour. Paid training provided.

Schedule

• Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Saturday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Part-time: 23 hours per week.
