401(k) Relationship Specialist

About the role

This role is built for someone who thrives in business development and loves building meaningful client relationships. Roughly 60% of your time will focus on prospecting, sourcing, and closing new corporate retirement plan opportunities, while the remaining 40% centers on delivering exceptional service and retention for existing clients.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth (~60%)

  • Source new 401(k) business through proactive prospecting, networking, and referrals.
  • Lead compelling, consultative sales conversations that clearly communicate fiduciary value.
  • Build strong relationships with prospects and centers of influence to expand Annex’s reach.
  • Manage a disciplined pipeline and consistently move opportunities toward close.

Client Service & Relationship Management (~40%)

  • Retain and support existing clients through trust-based, collaborative relationships.
  • Deliver clear, client-centric communication during plan reviews and investment discussions.
  • Host engaging client and participant meetings that provide personalized, actionable guidance.
  • Handle fund changes and administrative tasks with accuracy and care.
  • Collaborate internally to integrate financial planning resources for client workforces.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: 2 years minimum of experience in qualified plans or related fields, with a strong interest in Retirement Plan Services.
  • Compelling Communication and Sales Effectiveness: Ability to lead clear, persuasive conversations, simplify complex retirement concepts, and drive consultative sales outcomes.
  • Relationship Building & Collaboration: Builds trust quickly, nurtures long-term partnerships, and works seamlessly with internal teams.
  • Certifications: A Series 65 securities license is required (or a willingness to obtain it within six months of hire).
  • Presentation & Facilitation: Confident hosting plan reviews, participant education meetings, and executive level discussions.
  • Self-Starter & Team Player: Takes initiative, can independently drive momentum, and collaborate closely with team and firm resources to support client needs and firm growth.
