About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.

The DSP acts as a caregiver for individuals within the group home, assisting with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal hygiene (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing), medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.

DSP workers must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities.
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping.
  • Provide personal care, including bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments, banking, and community outings.
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
  • Safely evacuate individuals in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, MAP).

Training

  • Paid New Employee Orientation.
  • Paid CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Safety Care and Defensive Driving training.
  • Medication Administration Program (MAP).
  • Program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or G.E.D.
  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required).
  • Available by telephone for daily contact.

  • Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member.

Pay

Salary: $17.50–$19 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time: 18 hours per week.

  • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Sign-on Bonus

$1,000 for full-time employees and $500 for part-time employees.
