3RD SHIFT WASTEWATER TECHNICIAN

Department: Waste Water • Location: Ottumwa • Salary class: Non-exempt

Responsibilities

• Working in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments, equipment operations, and recording data
• Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months
• Monitoring operating equipment and report any equipment problems
• Recording equipment data
• Help with lab testing
• Data entry of environmental data
• Operate sludge press
• General housekeeping of Waste Water Plant area as needed
• Must be able to operate forklift as needed
• Cover co-worker vacations as needed
• Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-workers)

Requirements

• Good communication skills
• Previous experience helpful, but not required
• Mechanical skills
• General math skills
• Working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for data entry
• Self-motivator
• Able to work unsupervised as required
• Able to work outside year-round as needed
• Able to climb stairs
• Good attendance record (less than 3.0 points, for internal candidates)
• Position is not eligible for sponsorship of external candidates
