About the role

Amsted Automotive, Powder Metal, Beaver Dam, WI is looking for a 3rd Shift Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to manufacture or repair any tooling needs that the plant has using Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other precision equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow written work instructions as provided.
• Read and interpret complicated tool drawings.
• Fabricate and/or repair tools, fixtures and machine parts.
• Maintain a continuous material flow throughout the Tool & Die Process.
• Design and fabricate simple or complex jigs and fixtures.
• Make decisions using math, charts, tables, formulas, and knowledge of machining techniques and methods.
• Do complicated set ups and operations on machine tools such as lathes, standard and CNC mills and EDM’s, grinders, hones, saws, CAD/CAM.
• Understand how they impact product quality and how they affect both internal and external customers.

Requirements

• Responsible for maintaining a “Safety First” mentality while working.
• Keep work area neat and orderly at all times.
• Proficiently use precise measuring equipment and gauges and work to extremely close tolerances.
• Work with little direct supervision.
• Sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and capable of moving up to 80 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years: Post apprenticeship tool and die experience.
• Successful completion of a tool and die apprenticeship and 10,400 hours of relative work experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of Surfcam, Esprit, or SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Pay

A competitive wage based on experience plus a 5% shift premium.
