About the role

The Tool & Die Maker position is available on the 2nd shift (3:00pm – 11:30pm) in Shelbyville, Kentucky, USA. This role is part of the Shelbyville Manufacturing team and involves operating and setting up machine tools, inspecting and testing tools and parts, and performing routine maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up machine tools (such as mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to fabricate, modify, or repair tools and parts as required.
  • Inspect, measure, and test completed tools and parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Absorb and assist with the receipt, storage, issue, and return of tools and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure tools are in proper working condition.
  • Follow safety, housekeeping, and compliance policies within the tool room.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings in tool manufacturing and maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, preferably an AA degree or equivalent from college or technical school.
  • Technical or vocational training in machining or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or tool room environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial tools, equipment, and machining processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Proficiency in using computerized inventory and maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot tool-related issues and perform repairs.
  • Ability to lift and move tools and equipment (up to 33 lbs.).
  • Standing, walking, and manual handling as part of daily activities.
  • Ability to read and write English; understand and comprehend instructions for safety and quality.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • Must not be on an active Final Coaching for any disciplinary action.
