Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments: Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.
About the role
This supervisory position oversees manufacturing efforts in the production of quality products for use in automotive or power sport vehicles. The role reports to the Manager I, Production and manages 30–45 direct reports. The position is exempt and full-time.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production to ensure quality products are manufactured.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset and encourage this attitude daily.
- Ensure daily counts are complete and accurate.
- Understand previous shift downtime (DT) and production issues.
- Update and report BPS Board hourly with accurate progress (number of parts, DT minutes, quality losses).
- Work overtime as needed to supply customer parts.
- Allocate manpower based on customer needs.
- Train new line leaders according to job description standards.
- Ensure daily production targets are met; report missed targets and reasons.
- Actively engage in and report daily line issues.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Develop solutions to problems efficiently.
- Maintain attendance below 1 point to set an example.
- Provide timely and accurate coaching and counseling to line leaders and associates.
- Schedule manpower via Paycom for weekend overtime when needed.
- Gather information and complete “5 WHY” reporting for customer issues.
- Work toward overall company goals: OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
Safety & Environmental
- Promote a safety-first attitude and provide a safe work environment through training and adherence to OSHA regulations, including Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, and Confined Spaces.
- Maintain safe and clean working conditions; correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Complete incident reports promptly when incidents occur.
Quality
- Lead the team to ensure “in process” and “final” products meet customer and Astemo Rock Spring quality specifications.
- Ensure adherence to work instructions and point cards; communicate quality issues immediately.
- Promote STOP, CALL, WAIT mentality among line leaders and associates.
- Use BPS boards to communicate quality problems effectively.
Delivery
- Ensure completion of planned production quantities.
- Collect and complete all shift paperwork accurately for assigned line(s).
- Cover line operations during breaks and lunches as needed based on shipment requirements.
- Report all assembly-related issues daily.
Productivity
- Achieve planned production quantities by communicating unresolved issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow and ensure coworkers follow work instructions.
- Promote teamwork and prevent workflow interruptions.
- Suggest improvements to productivity, quality, and safety.
- Participate in line rotation when needed.
Reporting
- Report safety incidents, near misses, equipment issues, quality concerns, and workflow interruptions.
- Complete shift and production tracking paperwork.
- Update BPS Boards hourly and accurately.
- Investigate and complete “5 WHY” reports for customer issues; present findings to management.

Skills

Qualifications
- Previous experience in a related field preferred.
- Management training offered by Astemo Rock Spring.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
- Regularly lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
