3rd Shift Material Handler - $21/hr

About the Role

Material Handlers are responsible for efficiently and accurately receiving product and shipping orders, ensuring they are processed, put away, picked, and shipped in a timely and secure manner. This position requires use of internal warehouse systems and various warehouse equipment, including Powered Industrial Trucks. You will work at a fast pace, be attentive to detail, and embrace change. Extensive on-site training and mentoring are provided, with cross-training opportunities available.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve items from racking accurately and efficiently using handheld scanning devices and ERP system, on foot or using forklift equipment
• Sort and consolidate picked items using handheld scanning devices, preparing customer orders for shipment processing
• Pack products accurately and securely using internal SPS system or CVP machines, focusing on providing an excellent customer experience
• Bundle and verify orders for shipment, ensure order accuracy, and operate the bundler system
• Unload live domestic deliveries from trailers using forklift equipment or unload import containers by hand
• Use ERP system to systematically receive inventory accurately and efficiently, ready for storage
• Move palletized product using pallet jacks/forklift equipment to organize the receiving dock or transport product within the distribution center
• Scan and place inventory in racking locations using forklift equipment and handheld scanning devices
• Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and computers, following all safety protocols
• Meet performance standards for efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following safety guidelines and reporting hazards
• Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals
• Abide by all company and warehouse policies
• Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day
• Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing
• Requires regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
• Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
• Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75 lbs

Qualifications

• 1+ year of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required
• No degree required; relevant skills, experience, and alignment with core values are valued

Skills

• Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and order pickers
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to adapt to changing business needs with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
• Customer service-oriented attitude with a desire to exceed expectations

Working Environment

The work environment involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to temperature and humidity changes, dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level is usually moderate, with average employee traffic in the work area.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM

Pay

Starting wage is $21.00/hr (includes a $1.00/hr shift differential) with potential raises of up to $0.88 every 6 months.
