SUMMARY
Sets up and operates numerical control equipment to machine components to specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
- Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.
- Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications.
- Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side.
- Complete Changeovers using the Changeover Procedure.
- Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to changeover instructions.
- Fills in Change over checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete.
- Utilize AIM to transact material at final step of process.
- Completes Standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions.
- Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor.
- Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
- Offsets tool, as required.
- Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications/hourly checks, using in process sheets and gaging.
- Notify Team Leader or Production Manager of any abnormal or unusual condition.
- Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
- Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
- Complete line PMs (planned maintenance) as assigned.
- Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand eight (8) or more hours a day; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
