Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments: Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Visual quality check of raw cast aluminum products
  • Visual quality check of machined aluminum products
  • Loading of raw cast aluminum product into manual CNC machine
  • Unloading of machined product from CNC machine
  • Loading conveyor with machined aluminum products
  • End of shift area clean up – or as needed
  • Must be able to work where needed in the machining department
  • Must be able to support other departments as and when needed
  • Assist any line leaders, supervisors, or managers in other tasks assigned
  • Report for additional work to the immediate supervisor if all tasks are complete
  • Work toward meeting overall company goals: OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance

Safety & Environmental

  • Promotes a safety-first attitude and provides a safe work environment by following all required OSHA regulations, including:
    • Personal Protective Equipment
    • LOTO (lock out tag out)
    • Crane and Powered Lifts
    • Machine Guarding
    • Chemicals
    • Fall Protection
    • Fire Protection
    • Incident reporting
    • Respirator
    • Hearing conservation
    • Confined Spaces
  • Maintain work areas to ensure safe and clean working conditions
  • Correct unsafe work conditions immediately when possible

Quality

  • Ensures in-process and final product meets customer and Astemo Rock Spring quality specifications
  • Follows work instructions, point cards, and communicates defects appropriately and immediately when quality issues occur
  • Follows the STOP, CALL, WAIT procedures

Delivery & Productivity

  • Responsible for completing the planned production quantities as required
  • Achieves planned production quantities by:
    • Communicating issues to the line lead or supervisor immediately
    • Following work instructions
    • Working as a team and promoting teamwork
    • Preventing interruptions to workflow and productivity
    • Suggesting improvements to productivity, quality, safety, etc.

Reporting

  • Reports safety incidents or near misses, issues with equipment or quality concerns, and workflow interruptions
  • Reports monthly “Ask Here” to help improve Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring

Preferred Skills

  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationships
  • Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures

Requirements

  • Preferred 2 years of experience with forklift operations

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, or hear
  • Occasional lifting of weights up to 40 pounds
  • Work inside and outside of machining centers when necessary
