3rd Shift Machine Operator (Weekends Required)

About the role

Wieland is a global leader in copper and copper alloy manufacturing, processing, and distribution, serving industries such as power, automotive, ammunition, coinage, construction, refrigeration, and electronics. The Machine Operator is responsible for the production and inspection of all assigned work orders, with a primary focus on operating Fin Tube milling centers, conducting quality checks, troubleshooting tools and production elements, and identifying defects in tubes during production. The role also includes housekeeping, adherence to safety and environmental guidelines, and operation of overhead cranes as needed. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor and works closely with the team lead for work assignments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Fin Tube machines, understanding tube types, material dimensions, and identifying defects to achieve progressive milling operations while maintaining precise tolerances and finishing requirements per customer drawings.
• Inspect in-process material as specified in work instructions; report any material not meeting criteria to ensure proper identification, disposition, or disposal following correct methods.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace, ensuring all PPE, equipment safeguarding, and protective devices are functioning and used in accordance with EHS safety standards.
• Record quality data, scrap counts, and material usage using WFS to ensure accurate inventory and product movement tracking.
• Operate overhead cranes as required.
• Troubleshoot tools and production elements; identify defects in tubes during production.

Qualifications

• Perform related duties as assigned to meet position and organizational expectations.
• Ability to perform setups and quality troubleshooting as instructed to minimize production flow impact.
• Strong contributor within the organization.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. (preferred).
• CNC machining experience (a plus).
• Understanding of measurement math related to decimals, fractions, and basic math functions.
• Manufacturing experience, preferably with knowledge of machine function and interface, including HMI input/output, calibration methods, programming, use of printing/labeling auxiliaries, and direct computer input for production/order start and finish operations.

Physical Demands

The role involves periods of standing, walking, and negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms in hot or cold production environments on slippery surfaces. The ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, ear plugs) is required. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs is also necessary.

Pay

Base Pay: $21.00 per hour. Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour.

Schedule

3rd Shift Hybrid A: Monday–Wednesday, 11:00 pm – 7:00 am; Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am.
