Responsibilities
- Work from complex drawings with or without process instructions.
- Inspect machined parts involving compound angles, three-dimensional projections, checking of precision linear angular coordinate dimensions.
- Perform first article inspections on machined, molded, and capsule hardware.
- Perform first article and first piece on tooling.
- Write and certify programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine and Optical Vision System in such a way that all inspectors can comprehend and self-guide through the program.
- Use of CMM Optical Vision System for dimensional inspection at advanced level.
- Absorb and train others in CMM Optical Vision System dimensional inspection operations.
- Measure parts while located on machinery in Machine Shop.
- Maintain responsibility for all gauging setups (i.e., gage blocks electronic height gauge).
- Complete required inspection documentation including non-conforming material documentation.
- Interact effectively to maintain positive working relationships with shop personnel, production operators, coaches, and managers.
- Assist in training / cross-training of others.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English.
- Demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- At least one-year completion of an approved vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent.
- ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) graduates encouraged to apply.
- High mechanical aptitude and the ability to relate to Machine Shop technology.
- To be proficient in general math (use of fractions, decimals, simple formulas and charts).
- To be able to lift at least 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to use CMM Machines and shop gauges.
- Knowledge in blueprint reading and Geometric Tolerances.
