About the role

The St. Jane de Chantal School is seeking a dedicated 3rd grade teacher who is enthusiastic, passionate, and a team player. The successful candidate must be able to teach religion class and work with a third-grade team of teachers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction aligned with the Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards.
• Utilize Standardized Test scores and other forms of assessment to adjust lesson plans and inform instruction.
• Create and implement learner-based lesson plans addressing the diverse needs of all students.
• Plan and deliver balanced programs incorporating direct instruction, guided instruction, individual/group practice, questioning, demonstration, and discovery.
• Assign class and homework that support lesson objectives and reinforce the learning process.
• Establish and enforce classroom procedures that optimize instructional time and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Maintain a grade book reflecting students' progress on formative and summative assessments and communicate status to parents and administration.
• Hold conferences with parents if students need academic or behavioral intervention.
• Produce quarterly progress reports and report cards.
• Foster and support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices, and witness service to others.
• Plan and teach religion classes that align with the ADW Religion Standards.
• Attend Catholic liturgical ceremonies and lead/practice prayer in the classroom.
• Perform non-instructional duties such as carpooling, recess, lunch, and classroom teacher substitution.
• Sponsor clubs and other school activities.
• Participate in faculty and professional development meetings.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia certification within three years of the date of hire. Required religious certification may also be needed.

Qualifications

Must be able to teach religion class and work with a third-grade team of teachers. Must have a passion for education and a commitment to Catholic values and traditions.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, ability to manage a classroom effectively, and proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
