Key Responsibilities
- Operate 3D scanners to capture physical objects, clean up mesh data, and prepare digital models for production.
- Set up, operate, and maintain various 3D printers (FDM/SLA).
- Optimize print settings, manage material inventory, and troubleshoot print failures.
- Remove supports, sand, polish, and prepare 3D-printed parts for final assembly or painting.
- Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and small power tools (dremels, bandsaws, sanders) to modify, fit, and assemble parts.
- Ensure all fabricated components meet strict dimensional accuracy and quality standards according to project blueprints or digital files.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment; perform routine maintenance on tools and 3D printing equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Fabricator: Proven experience working in a shop, laboratory, or studio environment utilizing small power tools and hand tools safely.
- Precision Mindset: Exceptional skills in precise measurement and reading technical drawings or blueprints.
- 3D Printing Expertise: Hands-on experience with 3D slicing software (e.g., Cura, PrusaSlicer, Chitubox) and operating 3D printers.
- 3D Scanning: Familiarity with 3D scanning hardware and basic mesh editing software (e.g., Meshmixer, Blender, or proprietary scanning software).
- Problem Solver: Ability to look at a mechanical or structural issue on a build and figure out the best physical or digital fix.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle small, intricate components, and lift up to 50 lbs.
