3D CAD Product Developer (Eyewear)

Summary/Objective

The 3D Product development position at CHROME HEARTS® is responsible for transforming initial design concepts into 3-dimensional designs. This includes creating a complete Rhino design file, ensuring low-level manufacturing feasibility, maintaining the design feel and flow, and producing 3D printed or metal cast prototypes.

Essential Functions

  • Work directly with the head of the eyewear department on eyewear and other development projects.
  • Take all design concepts from 2D sketches or technical drawings to a working 3D Rhino file.
  • Evolving a 2D drawing into a 3D model while preserving the initial design concept.
  • Developing rough design prototypes using 3D printing or metal casting for designer approval.
  • Maintaining the final approved design through on-the-fly revisions.
  • Creating detailed 2D drawings with all necessary profiles to communicate the approved 3D design.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of Rhino experience in building complex design models.
  • An ability to focus for long periods and maintain high levels of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Proficiency in Keyshot 3D rendering and animation software.
  • Ability to translate 2D design concepts into a complex 3D model, including developing manufacturable material thicknesses and low-level mechanical functionality.
  • Experience with 3D printing processes, including setting up models for printing and refining printed parts.
  • Expertise in converting 3D Rhino files into 2D CAD drawings.
  • Capacity to learn and retain Chrome Hearts' design concepts and aesthetic.
  • Patience to master the Chrome Hearts design process, which may take several years.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a warehouse, office, and production floor environment. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and other electronic devices is required.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Workdays are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexible scheduling for Fridays.
