About the role
The 340B Program Coordinator is responsible for the management of the pharmacy 340B drug discount program for all qualified entities within the organization. This includes ensuring compliance with all federal regulations and related interpretations, full implementation of the program in all areas of qualified use, and complete and accurate records and documentation.
Responsibilities
- 340B Program Coordination: Serve as the primary internal program coordinator and liaison for all 340B-related matters.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, modify, and maintain policies and procedures according to organizational, regional, state, and federal requirements. Ensure approval by the Regional 340B Oversight Committee.
- Education: Provide and manage ongoing training, education, and communication required for the 340B program.
- Rules/Guidance Surveillance: Monitor industry publications, websites, professional media, and peers to ensure the institution has the latest information on interpretations, rulings, and best practices for improving participation. Participate in the Trinity Health 340B Steering Committee.
- Registration/Recertification:
- Maintain records of provider practice site changes and crosswalk to child site registrations, cost report, and trial balance departments.
- Provide information and supporting documents for required OPAIS updates and registrations.
- Coordinate quarterly registration with the Entity Contact and Authorized Official.
- Provide documentation for annual recertification for DSH and HIV programs.
- Self-Audits: Develop, coordinate, execute, and document self-audits of the 340B process. Ensure remediation of findings.
- External Audits: Serve as the point person and coordinator for all audits. Coordinate requests, responses, and maintain a state of constant audit readiness.
- 340B Contract Management:
- Review and participate in the negotiation of new 340B contracts.
- Coordinate legal review with Trinity Health and MHSM Legal representatives.
- Maintain all 340B contracts.
- Program Enhancement/Optimization Reporting:
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for prescription capture, network expansion, purchasing maximization, and program growth.
- Develop and monitor monthly and annual reports on 340B participation, documenting utilization, savings, problem areas, and discrepancies for leadership review.
- Purchasing and Inventory Oversight: Monitor purchasing records for each 340B participant, document utilization, savings, problem areas, and discrepancies, and relay results to leadership.
- Split-billing Software Maintenance:
- Serve as the covered entity liaison with 340B third-party administrators for owned and contracted pharmacies.
- Communicate and guide pharmacy buyers to effectively use entity TPA systems for compliance and purchasing maximization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Pharmacy.
- Two years of experience with multiple aspects of the 340B program.
- Mastery of advanced spreadsheet logic and database applications.
- Knowledge of healthcare accounting, finance, and reimbursement principles.
- Ability to make sound, independent decisions, meet deadlines, and adapt to department needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Apexus 340B University.
- Previous experience with healthcare auditing, healthcare compliance, program development, and management.
