Salary: $40–$55/hr, DOE

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented CNC Programmer to join our Manufacturing team in an aerospace and defense facility. This hybrid role emphasizes CNC programming but also offers a path to a high-value Manufacturing Supervisor position. The role is critical to the front-end acceptance of client requests and the planning and implementation of machined part production, from quoting and router development to CNC programming and first article execution.

Ideal candidates will bring experience in both precision CNC Programming and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) principles, enabling efficient and compliant launch of new parts into production. Proficiency in programming 4-5 Axis CNC machines is critical. Opportunity A&R is a contract manufacturer experiencing strong demand growth, offering career development and progressive earning power.

Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Setup

  • Program CNC mill and lathe operations using Mastercam (or Fusion 360), based on customer blueprints and 3D models, primarily for new customer requests
  • Perform first article setups, dry runs, and program edits to validate accuracy and efficiency
  • Conduct in-process inspections to verify dimensions during first article production runs
  • Train machine operators on setup sheets, fixturing, and safe operation of new programs
  • Assist in material movement through work centers to meet customer schedules, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and address impacted processes
  • Maintain revision control for CNC programs and tooling instructions

Manufacturing Lead

  • Analyze customer blueprints, 3D models, and specifications to determine manufacturability and generate time/material estimates for quoting
  • Develop and update manufacturing router sequences, Bill of Materials, and Work Centers for new and existing product lines, ensuring accurate ERP system data
  • Select tooling, fixturing, and machine allocation based on material and part geometry for 2-5 axis lathes, 3-4 axis horizontal/vertical mills, 5-axis mills, and conventional machining equipment
  • Collaborate with Customer, Production, and Quality teams to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) optimizes manufacturing methods and techniques
  • Organize machine shop priorities and workflow to meet customer requirements while maintaining AS9100 compliance

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace CNC machining, with demonstrated expertise in CNC programming and setup
  • Strong proficiency with Mastercam or Fusion 360
  • Deep understanding of G-code, GD&T, blueprint reading, and aerospace tolerancing
  • Experience working in AS9100/AS9102-regulated environments
  • Proven ability to estimate machining time, material requirements, and tooling needs for quoting purposes
  • Familiarity with aerospace alloys (e.g., titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, aluminum)
  • This position requires handling information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a “Make-to-Blueprint” job shop environment
  • Experience with Master Routers (e.g., Item Masters requiring Bill of Materials and Routing sequences) or willingness to learn
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Syteline, JobBOSS, Epicor, ProShop)
  • First article inspection (FAI) process experience per AS9102
  • Lean or Six Sigma training

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and machining knowledge
  • Ownership mindset and initiative in problem-solving
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Sales teams
  • Attention to detail in planning and execution
  • Clear, concise technical communication (verbal and written)

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Hands-on environment with autonomy and impact
  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical aerospace components
  • Fast-paced, growth-oriented company with a strong industry reputation
