About the Role
Provides safe, effective and efficient preventive and corrective maintenance to all Family Dollar Transportation equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs all necessary repairs to all systems, sub-systems and components of company trailers.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections on company yard trucks.
- Identifies warranty opportunities and works to maximize Family Dollar claims.
- Coaches/Assists Class C Technicians.
- Performs periodic equipment inspections, inbound equipment inspections and PM follow-up work.
- Assists in maintaining an accurate parts inventory system.
- Assists in performing other maintenance-related activities, as needed.
- Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
- Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment.
- Follows all Company policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in heavy-duty commercial truck and trailer maintenance.
- Ideally, candidate will possess some formal equipment maintenance training from a Technical School.
- Must have a roll-around type tool chest and all hand tools to perform assigned mechanic’s work.
- Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Current Air Brakes Certification and experience, knowledge & skills to complete semi-annual/periodic inspections are required.
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Tasks require the ability to frequently lift and move up to 60 pounds.
- Adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping, and kneeling with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per Transportation requirements.
Working Conditions
- Work in a non-climate controlled atmosphere, where outside weather conditions greatly affect the building’s temperature, although fans and heaters are used.
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes, and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA.
Schedule
Full-time, 2nd shift: Monday - Thursday, 4pm to 2:30am. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays if needed.
Pay
Starting pay rate: $25.00/hour plus $2 shift differential.
