Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector Location: Richmond, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Schedule: 2nd Shift Starting Pay: $31/hour (Higher pay available based on experience + $3.00/Hour Night Differential) Overtime: Saturdays as needed Position Overview We are hiring a Quality Control Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to support quality checks throughout the production process. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection skills may also be considered. Key Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of fabricated structural steelIdentify and document nonconformances in accordance with D1.1/D1.5Inspect materials against shop drawings and specificationsPerform in-process and final inspections, including dimensional layout and part placementParticipate in annual AISC QC auditsWork with production to identify and resolve quality issuesHelp develop and support quality improvement initiatives Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabricationAbility to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawingsStrong understanding of structural steel fabrication and quality standardsWelding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
