About the Role

The Fabricator operates fabricating machines to create structural steel products used in industrial automation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
  • Read job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Position workpiece against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Detect workpiece defects and machine malfunctions.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiece.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, die, or workpieces.
  • Comply with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of standard and metric measurements.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Team orientation.
  • LOTO certification required.
  • Crane operation certification required.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred but not required.
  • Availability to work on Saturdays as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Physical Demands

  • Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling: using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position; requires substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; receiving detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Visual: close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe; view a computer terminal; perform extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); use measurement devices; and/or assemble or fabricate parts at distances close to the eyes.

Work Environment

  • Inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.

Pay

USD $20.00 – $30.00 per hour.
