2nd Shift -Setup Operator Floater Secondary Machinist

About the role

Under the direction of the supervisor, either directly or through a lead person, this individual is responsible for setting up and operating various pieces of equipment. This person will be required to keep an orderly inventory of all associated jigs, tools, dies, and measuring instruments. This person must be able to operate all equipment in the department at production levels, train new employees, and fill in on any job in the department including the lead persons when required. This person could be responsible for at least one person more than 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate equipment including hydraulic presses, hones, lathes, baking ovens, CNC equipment (Omniturns, CNC mills), and other pertinent and similar equipment
• Select and install various tooling and/or programs for multiple part sizes
• Perform offsets when necessary to assure parts are manufactured to blueprint specifications
• Perform set ups for other individuals as production requires
• Use or adapt existing tools to new jobs whenever necessary
• Perform simple maintenance of tools (such as sharpening) and machines (such as lubrication)
• Maintain accurate production records and counts
• Maintain a safe and clean work area
• Move work as required
• Do unusual or experimental work
• Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by supervision either directly or through the lead person

Qualifications

• Ability to operate all equipment in the department at production levels
• Ability to train new employees
• Ability to fill in on any job in the department including the lead person's role when required
• Ability to be responsible for at least one person more than 50% of the time
