POSITION PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to partner with the plant leadership to promote a proactive safety culture by identifying and eliminating hazards before an incident occurs. Assists the Safety Manager with the implementation and maintenance of policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid the Safety Manager in reviewing and revising existing programs and implementing new safety programs to ensure company compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and other functions within the plant to assess current work practices and recommend improvements to reduce risks.
  • Oversee the incident reporting and investigation processes, including determining root causes, assigning corrective actions, and monitoring progress towards closure.
  • Develop and deliver safety training sessions for all associates on a monthly basis, ensuring the training program remains effective and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct specialized safety training and evaluate its effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to enhance the training program.
  • Carry out routine audits and inspections to assess the plant's compliance with the company's Corporate Safety programs and regulatory safety standards.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting (including assembly/machine shop).
  • Mandatory supervisory experience in a high volume, fast-paced facility.
  • Previous experience or an undergraduate degree in safety is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • CPE, CSP, or CIH certification a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Sit or stand as needed.
  • Requires walking on a level surface periodically throughout the day.
  • May need to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lift up to 25 pounds for filing or storing materials.
  • Proper lifting techniques are required.
  • Exposure to manufacturing areas may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office setting.
