About the role
This position provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion. Key responsibilities include maintaining safety and security, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safety and security during interior and exterior patrols.
- Performs routine inspections and audits to identify vulnerabilities and hazards.
- Assists with traffic control and manages patient valuables.
- Responds to and investigates workplace violence and emergency situations.
- Provides security awareness education to team members.
- Liaises with law enforcement and first responders.
- Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
- Performs liaison rounding duties to foster partnerships with departments.
- Facilitates de-escalation techniques and uses force when necessary.
- Coordinates prisoner patient guards and ensures policy compliance.
- Participates in ongoing training and maintains certification.
- Assists with exterior traffic and crowd control.
Requirements
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) from IAHSS.
- A valid driver’s license.
- For Illinois teammates: Completion of State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course.
- For Wisconsin teammates: Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER) use.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service.
Qualifications
- An above-average level of emotional intelligence.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Collaborative work with medical staff and external law enforcement.
- Physical fitness and ability to walk all areas of the facilities and grounds.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. occasionally and push/pull with 35 lbs. of force.

$21.85 - $32.80 per hour
