Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure scheduled work hours align with full support of all shifts.
- Provide flexibility to ensure all assigned tasks and employee needs are met.
- Supervisor’s presence to remove roadblocks and answer questions is critical to the operations team.
- Tracks and promotes cross training and employee growth opportunities, employee skill to work center alignment.
- Document corrections, accomplishments and improvements in employee files.
- Hold regular one on ones with direct reports; maintain documentation of discussions.
- Provide training support for new hire employees.
- Ensure accurate completion of training documents.
- Solicit input and complete annual employee reviews as scheduled.
- Support hiring of new operators as required.
- Recommend changes to reduce operating times and improve effectiveness in conjunction with engineering team.
- Aid in writing and revising work instructions or specifications in conjunction with Continuous Improvement and operators.
- With Engineering Services ensure accuracy of travelers, sputter logs, plating logs and other department related documentation.
- Daily allocation of operator resources to meet the needs of production, manage accuracy of WIP and make headcount adjustments as needed.
- Maintain monitoring progress of hot jobs as identified by production planning, ensure movement of product is in alignment with scheduled expectations.
- Minimize dwell times of all WIP in manufacturing work centers.
- Support established goals to achieve objectives.
- Participate in MRB activities including review and disposition of product and carrying out scrap and rework as needed.
- Conduct daily GEMBA meetings with all operators (all shifts).
- Support the Safety Committee and incident investigations to ensure process, equipment, and employee compliance as needed.
- Determine quickly if unsafe conditions exist and direct employees out of affected areas.
- Provide coaching and feedback to manufacturing employees, this position has the authority to send direct reports home for cause.
- These must be reported to plant management and human resources in the same day.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma plus 3-5 years minimum experience supervising employees in a manufacturing environment required.
- Knowledge manufacturing processes to include techniques, methods, and system implementations.
- Strong safety and quality orientation with exposure to statistical process control and total quality techniques.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written documentation requirements and principals.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, read procedure manuals, and perform basic mathematics calculations.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other individuals as needed.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in a mathematical or diagram form.
