About the role

The 2nd shift Production Supervisor combines high-level technical expertise with assertive team leadership. As the primary authority on the floor during 2nd shift (4pm to 2am, Monday through Friday), you will be responsible for safety, maintaining the production schedule, and ensuring all personnel work efficiently. This role requires managing union employees, coordinating with the dayshift supervisor, and serving as the technical expert on the machining side.

With limited support during your shift, you must have the experience to address error codes, adjust offsets, and resolve mechanical issues. You will manage the setup and operation of multi-axis lathes and horizontal mills, leading your team to meet production goals while ensuring every part meets high-quality standards and tight tolerances. Your goal is to keep production moving smoothly and safely, ensuring your team machines quality parts that meet production standards.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of programming and operations to improve the overall capability of the shift. In addition to overseeing the machining department, you will manage 3-5 employees in the non-destructive testing (NDT), inspection, and storeroom departments, supporting these teams with a focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary authority on the production floor during 2nd shift, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
  • Manage union employees and coordinate with the dayshift supervisor.
  • Act as the technical expert on machining, addressing error codes, adjusting offsets, and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Oversee the setup and operation of multi-axis lathes and horizontal mills.
  • Lead your team to meet production goals while maintaining high-quality standards and tight tolerances.
  • Improve the overall capability of the shift through programming and operational knowledge.
  • Manage 3-5 employees in the non-destructive testing (NDT), inspection, and storeroom departments, ensuring these teams operate efficiently with a focus on safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of equivalent work experience in mechanical or a related engineering field from an accredited institution.
  • 1-5 years (5+ preferred) of experience in a CNC manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship to meet NOFORN (Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals) requirements for access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information. Acceptable proof of U.S. citizenship includes a U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate, or Naturalization Certificate.
