2nd Shift Operator/Mechanic

About the role

Equipment/Plant Operator position located in Port Norris, NJ. You will be an integral part of our sand mine operations, performing a variety of heavy equipment tasks and maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

• Clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, ditch, stockpile and push various types of material found at a quarry.
• Construct berms, excavate and grade to final grade.
• Load sand and sometimes small stone from a stockpile to a truck and/or train car.
• Estimate load size for a vehicle to avoid over‑ or under‑loading trucks.
• Load trucks without creating spillage.
• Perform general cleanup around all areas.
• Conduct daily heavy equipment walk‑around inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Perform other work as assigned when not engaged in operating equipment, including labor and general maintenance of all mine areas.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• At least one year of heavy equipment operation experience.
• Ability to work the 2 p.m.–10 p.m. shift, with possible schedule changes and Saturday work as needed.
• Prior experience running a dredge highly preferred.
• Willingness to train required.
• Mechanical/maintenance skills highly
