About the Role
This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical systems used in greenhouse operations. The mechanic will work closely with the greenhouse management to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime, thereby enhancing productivity. Additionally, the role involves keeping detailed records of repairs and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working with machinery and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure that all maintenance activities are completed according to schedule and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with farm management to schedule maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all maintenance tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with over 2 years of experience as a mechanic.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Familiarity with standard, essential hand tools used in the trade.
- Self-driven individual with a solid work ethic and commitment to quality.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in agricultural machinery repair.
- Familiarity with various types of agricultural equipment.
Job Setting & Physical Demands
This position is primarily outdoors but may require working between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties, which may involve the use of computers and standard office equipment. Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding the English language is required.
- Must be able to work in all outdoor elements, including various weather conditions, dust, and allergens.
- Requires long-term (up to 8+ hours/day) ability for walking, standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting on a regular basis.
- Requires utilization of fine motor skills, including pinching, squeezing, and pulling.
- Must have the ability to operate all machinery necessary within the department and across the facility, including obtaining required certifications to operate such equipment.
- Must be able to work at heights over 6 feet.
- Must be able to utilize and communicate through a cellular or radio-like device.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business needs arise and during peak seasons.
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds unaided and regularly lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
