About the Role
The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls equipment and related plumbing, electrical, and pneumatic and hydraulic components. This position directly reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for ensuring high-quality and safety standards are maintained.
Essential Functions
- Operate equipment according to operation guidelines, including safety procedures and guidelines
- Understand manufacturing equipment, processes, and monitor equipment operation
- Record and maintain accurate data on documents as necessary; ensure all paperwork is complete and compliant with Company standards
- Keep a neat, clean, and orderly work setting by completing cleaning tasks and adhering to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
- Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate actions, and report potentially unsafe conditions
- Be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy; maintain a flexible attitude towards improvement and change
- Attend all Company-sponsored training events and become proficient in production and safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, including personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance and upkeep
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or college degree (preferably in electromechanical or mechatronics); two to three years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education or experience
- Strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (oral and written)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize
- PLC knowledge and experience is a plus; steam boiler and plant air compressor system experience helpful
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operation manuals, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting guides
- Demonstrate strong work ethics (punctual, dependable, and trustworthy)
- Pass any required examinations necessary to perform essential functions of the job
- Communicate and handle conflict professionally and give/welcome feedback
- Proven troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Working Conditions
- Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear
- Use specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use proper ergonomic principles
- Taste, smell, lift up to 25 pounds
- Operate equipment including computers, drafting equipment, and instruments involving scientific meters and measuring devices
- Distinguish colors
- Adhere to personal protective equipment policies and procedures
- Exposure to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, work in extreme heat (non-weather), work in high noise levels and vibration, work in high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme cold (non-weather)
