About the role

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will maintain and repair automated material handling equipment to ensure high equipment availability rates. Using preventive and predictive maintenance processes, you will troubleshoot breakdowns, restore equipment to service, and collaborate with other technicians to solve problems. You will validate contractor work, optimize equipment, and meet aggressive timelines in a fast-paced supply chain facility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, sortation, forklifts, and robotics.
  • Adjust scanners and cameras; reset, repair, or replace components (belts, chains, cables, guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys).
  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment using job plans, procedures, and manuals.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, and encoders.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance and repair/replace electrical circuits and related electronic equipment using tools like multimeters and infrared thermometers.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Assist with basic electronics and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) troubleshooting.
  • Serve as first-line support for critical building assets, including air compressors, RTUs, label printers, jockey trucks, battery chargers, and fleet vehicles.
  • Use Emaint (CMMS) to create and close work orders, documenting labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Follow safety procedures (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, Hot Work, Fire Impairment) and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Monitor internal and external worksites, standing/walking for 8–10 hours as needed.
  • Lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate powered lift equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts).
  • Flexibly perform other tasks as needed to support business operations.

Requirements

  • Excellent PC competency and ability to use a laptop.
  • Familiarity with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring tools.
  • Experience with work order management and preventive/predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Basic blueprint and schematic reading skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, industrial controls, and basic metal fabrication/welding.
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting basic input/output functions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree from a technical or community college (mechanical/electrical focus) preferred.
  • 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems, controls, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime and flex to support other shifts.

Schedule

Shift: 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
