2nd Shift Lead Custodial Services Worker

About the role

This position serves in a leadership and directional role when the 2nd & 3rd Shift Facilities Operations Assistant Manager is unavailable. The incumbent will maintain established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for interior spaces within assigned education and general assignment buildings across campus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect common high touch surfaces, restrooms, hallways, corridors, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, and general interior spaces.
  • Serve as a leader and guide when the 2nd & 3rd Shift Facilities Operations Assistant Manager is unavailable.
  • Execute emergency cleanup and blood-borne pathogen procedures.
  • Maintain floor and window maintenance, operate cleaning equipment, remove trash, collect recycling, and replenish supplies.
  • Report equipment and building repairs and address any unsafe or unusual maintenance issues.
  • Care for and handle facilities supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
  • Act as emergency personnel and report to work as needed during campus emergencies, holidays, closings, and per supervisor’s instructions.

Requirements

  • Comprehend and follow instructions, use or learn to use cleaning chemicals and agents, including dilution and dispensing systems.
  • Walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach (including reaching above the head to dust), push/pull, perform repetitive motion, twist, and shovel snow.
  • Operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment; learn to use heavy floor care equipment.
  • Work independently without close supervision; willing and able to learn the use of heavy floor care equipment.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Direct and lead the work of others; make independent decisions and judgements in absence of supervisor; develop a good working relationship with workers, students, and professional staff; effectively use all equipment and train others on the proper usage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the public and/or customer service experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with various cleaning methods.
  • Custodial/cleaning experience in an institutional, or commercial cleaning environment (such as hospitality (hotel/motel), commercial cleaning company, manufacturing, health care facilities, etc.).
  • Custodial/cleaning experience working in an educational environment (such as universities/college, school systems, etc.).
  • Previous experience operating professional cleaning equipment.

Pay

Salary Information: $34,944 plus $2,080 per year. Overtime Status: Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime. Appointment Type: Regular. Shift Differential: Hours per week: 40.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check. Must have a driver's license check. Normal work hours are M-F 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., but work hours may vary to meet management and customer needs.
