2nd shift - Heat Treat Operator

About the role

Astemo Rock Spring, Inc., established in 2000 and part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide, supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. Located in Rock Spring, GA, we operate on three shifts with 400 employees across Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform one or more operations in the manufacturing of aluminum knuckles for automobiles, including:
  • Operation of Heat Treat equipment for multiple production lines
  • Maintaining equipment check sheets and C.O.P. in work area
• Cross-train in multiple steps of the process after initial training
• Use tools such as file, air sander, air chisel, air blow wand, broom, dustpan, and squeegee
• Move lightweight materials and perform repetitive lifting (over 700 lifts per shift) of weights up to 15 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
• Monitor and maintain production quantities and quality
• Check quality of products and parts for production
• Promote a safety-first attitude and follow all required OSHA regulations, including:
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Crane and powered lifts safety
  • Machine guarding
  • Chemical handling
  • Fall protection
  • Fire protection
  • Incident reporting
  • Respirator use
  • Hearing conservation
  • Confined spaces protocols
• Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor and Quality Assurance teams to ensure equipment maintenance meets quality standards and product integrity
• Follow quality control processes to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications
• Coordinate with the Casting Supervisor to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure smooth production flow
• Align production schedules to minimize disruptions and contribute to on-time delivery of cast parts
• Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and implement measures to increase efficiency
• Strive for continuous improvement in productivity metrics and equipment performance
• Provide daily updates to the Casting Supervisor on work progress, equipment performance, production targets, and key metrics
• Collaborate on data gathering and analysis for accurate reporting
• Monitor key performance metrics related to casting processes, including equipment uptime and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
• Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance optimization
• Perform other tasks as assigned, working toward company goals including OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, ethical and legal compliance, customer quality, production to plan, and delivery performance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities
• Proficiency in safety regulations and quality control processes specific to the Casting department
