2nd Shift Grinding Operator

About the role

As a Grinding Operator, you will assemble a wide variety of assemblies and subassemblies to produce a quality product for our customer.

Schedule

This position works a 2nd shift schedule of Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.

Training will be conducted on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) for approximately 2–4 weeks. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to the regular 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic machining operations using assigned machine tools.
  • Inspect parts using basic measuring tools; inform lead person of out-of-tolerance situations.
  • Obtain first-piece inspection approval before proceeding.
  • Conduct periodic inspection of parts.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports as required.
  • Maintain established quality standards.
  • Ensure work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition; follow prescribed safety measures and company policies.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations, including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner.
  • Participate as a member of work teams and assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, cost, and continual improvement.
  • Read, follow basic blueprints, diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and/or procedures to accurately assemble products.
  • Perform microscope inspection on assembled parts.
  • Maintain inventory of product in workstations.
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Attend required training programs.
  • Perform 5S activities.
  • Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
  • Read, use various inspection equipment, precision tools, and apply basic inspection and sound measurement practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least 6 months’ work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions and techniques.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude.

Pay

Hourly position with a salary range of $40,000–$60,000 USD per year. The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market/business considerations, and geographic location.
