2nd Shift Color Dispensing Technician

About the role

Dorn Color is a leader in the Color Card and Sampling market, specializing in precise color matching to customer specifications. This position is based at our plant location on Berea Road off West 114th Street in Cleveland and reports to the Color Manager.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate Color Batches to expedite customer jobs while ensuring cost containment through proper material usage and minimal scrap lacquer.
• Operate the Color Dispensing Machine and use digital scales to weigh lacquer for batch production.
• Create masstone and letdown samples for calibrating pigment files.
• Produce drawdowns after Color is batched and run mixers to blend pigments with lacquer for matching inventory.
• Maintain and properly store all Color Batching equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
• Keep the Color Manager informed of any issues encountered during the Color Batching process.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and replenish supplies as needed.
• Follow all work instructions and procedures for the Color Department.
• Perform additional duties to enhance departmental and company efficiency.
• Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials/waste in compliance with EPA and OSHA standards, including proper labeling and dating of containers.
• Meet key KPIs for all Color Batching functions while prioritizing safety.

Schedule

This role is available for either 2nd or 3rd shift, with a shift differential included in the hourly pay package.

Work Environment

Plant environment with a climate-controlled Color Lab.
