About the Role
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Operator for our Torrance, CA location. HFS holds the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems and is the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are integral to aircraft, aerospace engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC-controlled machine tools using provided programs and tool layouts.
- Follow work orders and verbal instructions to run multiple machines as required.
- Employ set-up reduction techniques to minimize change-over times and increase productivity.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards.
- Participate actively in the Autonomous Maintenance program.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance per the daily schedule.
- Conduct first piece verification process per part print as required.
- Produce and maintain high-quality parts.
- Perform Lock/Out Tag/Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Run production parts according to specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Check all work with appropriate measuring tools and make offsets and edits as required.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Policies and Procedures; report all incidents immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC experience in the aerospace industry.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Position entails access to export-controlled items; ability to lawfully obtain access is required.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Understanding of cutting tools (offset and geometry) and knowledge of “G” and “M” codes.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to move and lift up to 30 lbs (per EHS policies).

Pay
The salary range for this position is $27–$35 per hour.
