About the Role
The Cleveland plant is an air-conditioned environment with a team atmosphere and a commitment to safety and quality. As a Mixer, you will make batch mixes using established formulations and methods to ensure that safety, quality, and production goals are met on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Completes mixing tasks on a rotational basis as assigned by the supervisor/team leader of the department.
- Safety (daily requirements):
- Follow all company safety procedures in completion of job duties.
- Verify that all safety-related devices, machine guarding, signage, etc. are in place and functioning prior to releasing equipment for production.
- Wear required PPE for job function.
- Participate in 6S events in the department and throughout the facility.
- Sustain 6S standards through good housekeeping and execution of standard work.
- Manage and handling of hazardous waste.
- Productivity (daily requirements):
- Perform minor equipment set-up and adjustments; operate all necessary mixing and testing equipment.
- Gather and verify all raw materials for each batch mix per the double check sheet.
- Follow standard operating procedures on check sheet to make required batch mixes.
- Maintain mixes for all lines while performing other duties assigned by department.
- Complete required documentation.
- Complete production records and data entry as required (DPR’s, process monitor, production summaries, double check sheets, work orders, etc.).
- Lean (daily requirements):
- Utilize LEAN Thinking in formal and informal settings including participating in LEAN Events (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Projects, Just-Do-It), submitting Suggestions, attending LEAN Training, and improving work cell/areas of responsibility daily.
- Use visual tools and display boards and update them as appropriate.
- Document all changes resulting from LEAN activities according to ISO guidelines.
- Accept and embrace change necessary for continuous improvement.
- Teamwork (daily requirements):
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers by willingness to take on additional responsibility and/or support.
- Substitute and back-up production line positions if and when necessary.
- Communication (daily requirements):
- Maximize the flow of communication for effective performance within the department and between shifts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of various equipment (fill machines, pallet jack, box knife, batch gun, mix tanks, drum mover, microscope, viscometer, and computer) is helpful.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work at a fast pace in order to meet department units and production needs.
- Ability to work as a member of a team to meet department goals.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to read and comprehend work orders, charge sheets, and PPE requirements.
- Safety-oriented.
- Respirator fit test and respirator questionnaire required upon hire and annually.
- 24-hour HAZMAT training upon hire, and 8-hour HAZMAT annually.
- Compounding, quality, or science education is preferred.
- Some product knowledge is preferred.
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college preferred with advanced mathematics and/or science background preferred.
Pay
Compensation Range: $17.59 - $22.87 - $28.14 USD per hour. Target Cash Profit Sharing: 5.00%. Offer amount determined by experience and review of internal talent.
