2nd Shift Assembler, Wire Harness

About the Role

The Wire Harness Technician plays a vital role in the assembly and installation of wiring systems essential for the functionality of various electronic products. This position ensures the reliability and safety of electrical connections in applications including automotive, aerospace, and industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wire harnesses according to detailed specifications and blueprints, ensuring correct installation and security of all components.
• Perform quality control checks throughout the assembly process to maintain high standards and prevent defects.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to communicate issues, provide feedback on processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement efficient production techniques in collaboration with team members.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and support continuous improvement.
• Provide timely feedback and insights to address challenges faced during production and recommend solutions.

Tools and Equipment Used

• Crimping Tools: Used to attach connectors to the ends of wires securely.
• Wire Strippers: Essential for removing insulation from wire ends without damaging the metal conductor.
• Soldering Irons: Utilized for soldering connections to ensure a reliable and permanent bond.
• Multimeter: A critical tool for measuring voltage, current, and resistance in wire harnesses.
• Specialized Testing Equipment: Designed to test wire harnesses for electrical continuity and performance (e.g., Cirris’s equipment).
• Cable Bundling Materials: Includes cable ties, clips, spiral wraps, heat shrink tubing, and heat guns to organize, secure, and protect wire connections.

Skills and Qualifications

• Understanding of basic electrical principles, including voltage, current, resistance, and circuit design.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics related to wire harness designs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve wiring issues quickly.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet production deadlines.
• Proficiency in performing intricate assembly tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and team members.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methods in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card, or any individual granted status as a "protected person").
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Preferred Qualifications

• IPC certification.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment with consistent exposure to the manufacturing floor and testing environments.
• May require lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for extended periods.

Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM.
