2nd Press Operator

Description

The Assistant Press Operator position at Smurfit Westrock in Mebane, NC operates night shifts from 7PM-7AM. The role involves reviewing job tickets with the 1st Press Person to determine, size, and quantity of sheets required and matching the ink supplied to the job ticket specifications. The operator adjusts the printing units for proper sheet size, mounts plates in the press, and ensures the feeder is loaded correctly. They begin running the press and continuously check the quality and registration of the work to meet customer specifications. Production and quality reports are completed with the 1st Press Operator as required. Additional responsibilities include lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs intermittently, and up to 75 lbs rarely, working in a tobacco-free environment, standing for up to 12 hours per day, bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, kneeling occasionally, seeing fine detail in printed products, checking for color accuracy, distinguishing color differences, and maintaining a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment. Previous offset printing press experience is required, along with attention to detail and communication skills.

Requirements

• Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs intermittently and up to 75 lbs rarely.
• Ability to work in a tobacco-free environment.
• Stand up to 12 hours per day.
• Bend, twist, climb, squat, kneel occasionally throughout the shift.
• Uses hands for simple and power grasping, as well as push, pull and fine manipulation.
• Work at and/or below shoulder level.
• See fine detail in printed product along with checking for color accuracy.
• See color and distinguish color differences.
• Previous offset printing press experience is required.

• Must wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, hair nets, steel-toed boots, etc.).
• Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
