2nd Grade Teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year at Bella Romero K-8 Academy of Applied Technology. Classification: Exempt. Contract length: 190 days.
Responsibilities
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Maintains discipline and classroom control fostering a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.
- Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Uses instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Diagnoses learning abilities of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Plans and supervises assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
- Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional standards.
- Respects students' personal spaces throughout the day.
- Implements students' IEP plans while maintaining academic integrity and motivating participation.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Cooperates with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accepts responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Reports student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems promptly.
- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
- Establishes and maintains open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Pursues professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced coursework.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrators.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding students' information.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Colorado Teaching License.
- Preferred experience in a related field.
- Bilingual (preferred).
- Ability to follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Strong classroom management strategies.
- Visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Conflict management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Empathetic and positive relationship builder.
- Knowledge of Colorado and district content standards.
- Ability to deal with conflict, high tolerance for stress, and quick decision-making.

Pay
Salary placement on the Certified Salary schedule depends on education and work experience. Certified/licensed employees receive one year of credit for each full year of contractual or work experience, up to a maximum of ten years. Verification of outside experience is the employee's responsibility.
