About the Role

The curriculum is already designed. The AI already handles what to teach. Your role is to help a child believe in capabilities they never imagined they had. At Alpha, academic work is completed by students in only two hours daily through adaptive learning technology. This structure allows Guides to concentrate on life-changing work: cultivating confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to confront difficult challenges.

You won't be positioned at the front of a classroom delivering prepared lessons. Instead, you'll be coaching students through obstacles, recognizing achievements, and demonstrating what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic encouragement. You'll guide a single K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade.

Half your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The remaining half involves coaching students in individual and small-group settings, leveraging learning analytics to ensure each child progresses toward challenging weekly targets.

Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled than when they entered and leave coaching sessions convinced they can accomplish more than they previously believed.

What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that guide K-3 students in mastering communication, concentration, feedback, and other enduring skills through active engagement rather than passive instruction.
• Mentor students individually and in small groups, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child advances toward challenging weekly learning targets.
• Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2Pass framework, mentoring students until they show genuine comprehension—not merely attendance.
• Adjust your mentoring approach to match the developmental requirements of your cohort, whether that involves songs, physical activity, and narrative for younger children or greater autonomy and responsibility for older students.
• Cultivate the types of connections where students feel confident enough to push beyond their perceived limitations.

What You Won't Be Doing

• Delivering academic instruction from a whiteboard. Students acquire academic knowledge through adaptive software.
• Creating curriculum materials from the ground up. You'll refine and customize established playbooks rather than designing lessons.
• Observing students as they work quietly on computers. Your function is active mentoring, inspiration, and engagement.
• Reducing standards when students face difficulty. Progress is achieved by supporting students to meet the goal, not by adjusting the goal downward.
• Overseeing homework, evaluating assignments, or conducting standard parent correspondence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a cohort of K-3 students who are enthusiastic about attending school, reliably meet challenging learning targets, and acquire the life skills that equip them to excel well beyond elementary school.

Basic Requirements

• Prepared to work on-site at one of Alpha's campuses. Current positions are open in La Jolla (San Diego); Orange County (Lake Forest); Los Angeles (South Bay, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Malibu); San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Palo Alto, Piedmont); Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton; Miami; Miami Beach; Palm Beach Gardens; Chicago; Boston; New York City; and Kirkland (Seattle area). Relocation support is provided.
• Bachelor's degree in any field.
• A minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or comparable settings.
• Demonstrated success motivating young children to reach difficult goals, with concrete examples of your influence.
• Ease with using AI-powered learning tools while directing your own efforts toward coaching, motivation, and life-skill cultivation.
• The capacity to combine warmth with consistent high expectations.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth sports, children's theater, camp management, Montessori, progressive education, or highly interactive after-school programs.
• Personal history of accomplishing ambitious goals in academics, athletics, or professional endeavors.
• Exceptional storytelling or performance abilities that naturally engage young children's attention.
• Proof of transforming hesitant or reserved children into confident, active contributors.

Pay

$60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
