2nd Grade Classroom Teacher

Full-time contract position for the school year (August–May) with some additional training days. Pay rate depends on education and experience.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be a mature, responsible, energetic, and nurturing individual with excellent interpersonal skills. This role involves facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing Archdiocesan-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. The position reports to the School Principal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
• Instruct students in responsible digital citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and school regulations.
• Stay current with professional knowledge and educational developments by attending seminars, workshops, or conducting research.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
• Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
• Uphold school standards for student conduct and maintain a functional learning atmosphere.
• Coordinate with staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies, maintaining inventory records.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
• Follow and uphold all COVID protocols set forth by the school.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including non-instructional duties such as lunch and carpool supervision.
• Maintain classroom order and behavioral management to ensure safety.
• Oversee students during non-instructional activities (e.g., lunch, carpool).
• Assist with morning, lunch, or afternoon duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Texas State Teaching Certification.
• Pass a criminal background check clearance.
• Training and verification in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
• Commitment to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
• Current Catechist Certificate or working toward one.
• Ability to teach both in-person and remotely online.

Qualifications

• State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
• Master’s Degree in a related area preferred.
• Prior teaching experience will be considered.

• Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
• Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
• Proficiency in using computer network systems and software applications.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues (in person, electronically, and in writing).
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
