About the role
Join the Electrical Team as a 2nd Electro-Technical Officer, monitoring all electrical equipment and systems aboard one of our vessels. This includes power generation, control systems, radio communications, and electronic navigation aids to maximize operational safety and efficiency. The Electrical Team plays a vital part in ensuring our guests can focus on having a great vacation experience in their home away from home.
Responsibilities
- Work diligently with the Staff Electro-Technical Officer and the Electro-Technical Officers in the execution of maintenance, repairs, and routine testing of electrical and electronic equipment, communication systems, entertainment systems, selected IT systems, automation and control systems, and electrical machinery and auxiliary systems in the Engine Room and Bridge
- Cooperate in repairs of galley and laundry equipment managed by the facility department
- Ensure the automation system, power generation and electricity management, propulsion system, and security systems are in order and functioning at all times, under the supervision of SETO
- Participate in Engine Control Room duties during maneuvering in confined waters and approaches, according to Engine Resource Management (ERM), supporting SETO as needed
- Perform routine and/or emergency interventions on equipment necessary for navigation (Radar, GMDSS) and guest service (TV System, Telephone System, Entertainment equipment, etc.)
- Perform operations of medium/low voltage and all switchboards onboard, including the emergency switchboard
- Ensure all aspects of the company's occupational health and safety programs are applied during working activities
- Assist the supervisor on all electronic issues when required
- Update stock levels of the electrical store-room and strategic spare parts when requested, communicate with the Storekeeper, and assist in periodical inventories if required
- Participate in planning, evaluations, and surveys of dry docks and external repair/service activities assigned
- Ensure all aspects of the company's HESS-MS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security Management System) are effectively applied during working activities
- Participate in drills and training as required by the company
- Complete additional assignments depending on shipboard operations and as part of training
Requirements
- Certificate of Competency STCW reg: III/6
- Basic Training Certificates as per the STCW standard
- Minimum 24-36 months of shipboard experience on a cruise ship as an Electro-Technical Officer
- Suitable applicants must be +21 years old
- English language proficiency
- Strong focus on ship safety management
- Follow Carnival's Occupational and Health policies and procedures at all times
- Ability to work well with a team
- Being a representative of the Carnival Brand
Qualifications
- Electro-Technical Engineer (Bachelor's or Master's degree) preferred, with technical training
- Shipboard experience in the same or above capacity on a cruise ship preferred
