Summary

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Prepares dimensional documentation according to customer requirements for new product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection using variable and attribute gaging to determine dimensional conformance of product
  • Evaluate products at specified stages in the production process for qualities such as cleanliness, paint quality, and appearance
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards
  • Record data, applying statistical quality control procedures
  • Evaluate data and document results to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
  • Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics
  • Provide guidance to production personnel and supervision on conformance of product to customer prints and specifications

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts when on shop walks.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • High level of proficiency using spreadsheet applications such as Excel, including the use of pivot tables
  • Ability to meet all Company attendance requirements
  • Ability to continuously practice safe habits in the workplace while following all policies and procedures related to health and safety
