Responsibilities
- Instructional Vision Planning for Instruction:
- Create rigorous, objective-driven lessons aligned with curriculum maps.
- Develop an academic calendar with mastery objectives for the year.
- Identify thinking and physical/social/content skills to be taught and assessed.
- Differentiate instruction for individual students.
- Engage students through various learning styles and activities.
- Prepare high-quality student work and intellectual preparation.
- Delivery of Instruction:
- Explicitly introduce and revisit learning objectives.
- Practice think-aloud during lessons.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies.
- Provide ample practice opportunities for all students.
- Data-Driven Instruction:
- Set and measure ambitious big goals.
- Achieve and track student progress against mastery objectives and big goals.
- Provide frequent feedback and check for understanding.
- Reflect on lesson effectiveness and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Create and implement re-teach plans based on data.
- Learning Environment:
- Create a focused, equitable, and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Communicate and enforce high expectations for behavior and academic performance.
- Establish and enforce age-appropriate expectations and consequences.
- Create and maintain classroom procedures and routines.
- Family and Community Relations:
- Communicate respectfully with parents/guardians.
- Maintain regular communication about student progress.
- Collaborate with families and the broader community to support student success.
- Professionalism:
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices.
- Participate in professional development and share ideas.
- Reflect critically on teaching experiences.
- Update and adhere to an Individual Professional Development Plan.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree Preferred
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with data analysis and using data to target instruction and inform decision-making.
- Proven track record of turning best practices into high-quality, goal-driven results.
- Proven track record of closing the achievement gap.
- Training in and implementation of TLCS curriculum programs preferred.
